Tools of the Trade D. Hot knife/foam grinder. A hot knife is a great investment - we’ll sell you one at a reasonable price. A hot knife is basically a shaped heating element (like an oven element), with a handle and guide attached. It plugs into ordinary 110 volt power. It’s used for melting and scooping out EPS foam from door and window openings (see Figure 15). It’s very tough to do this without a hot knife. Foam grinder. If you’re using urethane panels, you’ll need a grinder to rout out the edges of your panels, instead of a hot knife. We can arrange for you to rent or purchase a foam grinder. |
