How to Work with Wall Panels D. How to work with wall panels. We recommend you use structural wall panels - these have OSB inside and out. When you use structural panels, you’ll need to put up your drywall separately from when you install wall panels. You can do this several ways: We recommend you use plywood spacers to space your panels off your frame. With this method, you apply panels normally, then slip drywall in place after the panels are on (see Figure 6).
