How to Work with Wall Panels

Corner Details. At external corners, one edge of your panel will need to be inlaid with 2" x 6" stock to cover up the foam insulation inside. This provides a solid surface for you to nail corner trim and siding to. Sometimes you’ll use a small vertical section of panel to make up the full length of your wall. Figure 14 shows some typical corner details.

Use your hot knife to scoop out EPS foam wherever you’ll need an inlay - at the edge of panels, and around windows and doors (see Figure 15).

Important: You must put a bead of expanding foam sealer behind every inlay!

If your frame has internal corners, the post of your timberframe is most likely notched to accommodate the panels, as shown in Figure 16. If this isn’t the case, you’ll need to run your panels past the post like the second illustration in Figure 16.
