How to Install your Roof Panels

Ceiling Tongue & Groove. If you’re putting down ceiling T&G, this needs to be done before you install your roof panels.

Once your T&G is down, you need to staple down a layer of polyethylene vapor barrier. We do recommend use of curtainwall roof panels, so the drywall can serve as a fire barrier behind your T&G. Some state & local codes require this. Alternatively, if your local code allows, you can use nailbase roof panels - panels without an inside layer, just OSB on the outside.

You’ll install roof panels either vertically or horizontally, depending on your frame design and whether or not you use T&G. We’ll clearly indicate how your panels run on your panel layout & design.

Important: Check your panel layouts to see which panels we supplied for your project!

We show examples of vertical and horizontal panels, and illustrations of different frame types in Figure 18. You use vertical panels most often with common rafters, and horizontal panels with major rafters & purlins.
